GaoLeshi activated carbon filter sponge is a reticulated polyurethane (PU) foam impregnated with fine activated carbon particles. The open honeycomb skeleton lets air or water pass with very low pressure drop, while the carbon layer adsorbs odours, smoke, formaldehyde and airborne impurities. It is a ready-to-cut base media for air purifiers, range hoods, HVAC units, aquarium filtration and industrial deodorising modules.

- What is an activated carbon filter sponge?
- A reticulated open-cell PU foam loaded with activated carbon. The foam skeleton handles mechanical filtration and airflow, while the carbon adsorbs odours, smoke and volatile organic compounds.
- What is PPI and should I pick a higher number?
- PPI means pores per inch. 10-20 is coarse (high flow, low resistance, ideal for pre-filtration); 30-45 is medium (general purpose); 60-100 is fine (higher precision and dust holding). Higher is not automatically better – match it to your required flow rate and filtration accuracy.
- How do I choose density and pore size?
- Density determines strength and service life; pore size determines filtration accuracy and pressure drop. Ventilation media usually needs low-to-medium density with medium pores; water treatment and bio-media need medium density with medium-coarse pores; precision cartridges need high density with fine pores.
- Can you customise colour, size, thickness and shape?
- Yes. Colour, dimensions, thickness, density, PPI, die-cut profile, adhesive backing and lamination can all be produced to your drawing or sample, with technical support.
- Do you supply UL94 flame-retardant or bio-media grades?
- Yes. We produce UL94 flame-retardant foam, activated carbon deodorising foam and microbial bio-media foam directly at the source plant.
