Why a silicone sponge instead of an ordinary sponge

A cloth or an ordinary sponge holds grease, stays wet for hours and starts to smell. A silicone sponge behaves differently: its open honeycomb cells let water and air pass straight through, so oil separates from the surface instead of soaking in, and the pad dries quickly enough to resist mould and bacteria.

Material, honeycomb structure and colours

The pad is produced from a silicone-modified polyurethane foam with a uniform open honeycomb cell structure. Because the cells are open and interconnected, water flows through the pad, foam builds quickly, and the pad dries in the open air instead of staying wet. Six candy colours are held in stock, and colours can be matched to your brand.

Strong cleaning power, without scratching

The open-cell foam generates friction that is high enough to remove burnt-on food, yet soft enough for non-stick pans, glassware and ceramic. It lifts sauce, oil and dried-on residue from plates and pots with ordinary dish liquid.

Tough, flexible and long lasting

The material resists tension and tearing, returns to shape after squeezing, and does not pill or crumble with long use. Recommended replacement: every 1–2 months per sponge.

Rich foam with less detergent

Because the cells hold air and water, a small amount of dish liquid produces a thick lather, which reduces detergent consumption per wash.

Where it is used

One pad covers most of the kitchen: pots and pans, dishes and bowls, cooktops and hobs, stainless-steel sinks, chopping boards, plus household surfaces and furniture.

Rinses clean – oil separates from water

Grease does not bind to the silicone surface. Under running water the oil separates from the pad and washes away, so the sponge itself stays clean and does not turn greasy.

The open honeycomb cells drain and dry in the open air, which removes the damp environment that mould and bacteria need. This is the main reason a silicone sponge lasts longer and smells fresher than a conventional sponge or cloth.

The material has been submitted to an invention patent application and has passed third-party laboratory testing for food-contact use, formaldehyde and mould resistance. Key results from the test report:

• Heavy metals (Pb) – not detected (N.D.), limit ≤ 1 mg/kg, tested in 4% acetic acid at 60 °C for 0.5 h.
